If I could recall correctly, my first visit to Paete Church was 2 years ago. On a normal day, with no significant parish celebration, the church is not well-lit.
I was actually amazed to see the church during the fiesta celebration. Arrived at dawn, around 5am, and the centuries-old stone church was open in preparation for the 1st mass. Old ladies in veil were sitting quietly, patiently waiting. Chandeliers with red and yellow drapes were magnificently hanging from the aging wooden ceilings. The yellow lights illuminated the surrounding and the altar were full of flowers. The banderitas were dancing to the song of the wind. And to complete the psychedelic feel are the smell of the old church and the fresh scent of nature.
