La Sagrada Expedicion is a diary of my journey in meeting God, Mary His Mother, the Angels and Saints. In this journal, I will share stories of my encounters with different images & churches in the Philippines, as well as personal stories from different people.
I love to travel, and visiting churches and ecclesiastical images weren't really my primary focus. I travel to document Philippine Festivals and leisure destinations. It was until latter of 2010 when a colleague brought an image of La Esperanza Macarena to our home for a visita. It was my first time to see a life-size image and I admired the its beauty so much. I became really fascinated and started to research on different images that could be found in the Philippines. But due to my insufficient knowledge, I didn't really know where to start and who to ask and so, I lost track. My interest started to grow again when a friend suggested that I visit colonial churches in Cebu, which I did. More than 2 hours bus ride, I arrived at Carcar. I hurriedly searched for the church. I was stunned by the wonderful structure and frescoes. I took time to appreciate the wonderful sights. The old smell of the church brought me back to an era that I am not even aware of. Still at a nostalgic state, I sat beside a candle vendor outside the church and started to wonder. I asked myself, “How many more do I need to see…?”. After that trip, my perspective changed and with the help of some good friends (whom I met in my travels), the fascination turned into a lifelong passion. Come and join me as I journey and immerse myself in the divine world. Deus beatus nos totus! |
